About Us

Our names are Willie & Andrea Herath.  We've been married since 2001 and have two children that we really love.  When it comes to work, our lives are a little non-traditional.  Beside being a stay at home mom, Andrea also does a bit of nannie-ing and I am an author, filmmaker, and I manage the property we live in.

There are many injustices in our world today and we have a heart for those who are being negatively affected.  One thing that has been weighing on our hearts and minds lately is nutrition.  Not only being able to eat nutritious meals, but also being able to eat at an extreme level of affordability... aka cheap.  When looking at the injustices around us, it is rare to see nutrition and affordability coexisting.  We have been wondering how we can help, and the more and more we ponder this question we have decided to challenge ourselves.  Our challenge is to create memorably tasty recipes that bring nutrition and affordability together at every meal.

We enjoy challenges and we tend to make them about food.  The first one was back in January 2010, when we decided to take our cooking skills a bit higher by exploring French Sauces.  In, January 2011 we challenged ourselves to eat every meal at home.  Now, January 2012 we are doing the Dollar Meal challenge.

We love food!  We love people!  There is something amazing that happens every time a meal is enjoyed with friends and family... conversations break out, dreams and ideas are shared, happy feelings are abundant.  We humans are social creatures and that fact becomes so very apparent when we step back and look at our relationship to food.  I don't know about you, but buying cheap fast food and snarfing it down alone doesn't "Do it" for me.  The more we focus on the enjoyment of food and building relationship through the sharing of it, our lives become richer and more fulfilled.  Unfortunately, our food bill get's a little pricey which limits the much needed social interaction we crave. If this is true for us, then one could assume this is true for others.  Our hope is to be successful at creating memorably tasty recipes that bring nutrition and affordability together so we can all live more relational-y fulfilled lives.
